Our group has been in existence since 1985 and meets regularly on the second Saturday of the month (excluding August). We currently hire the Catholic Church hall in Tanners Street, Faversham, Kent from 2 pm until about 4.30 or 5 pm. We strive to keep our meetings informal, relaxed and friendly, with the hope that this provides the perfect opportunity for everyone to join in the exchange of news, views and modelling skills.
Members are drawn not only from the town but also from a wide area of East Kent and are of all abilities from beginner to the very experienced. The interests of those in the group are pretty varied, covering such areas as AFVs, ships, aircraft and, of course, military figures (See Gallery) while demonstrations are arranged, from time to time, on a wide variety of modelling techniques, by fellow club members or visiting modellers. Subjects have included the sculpting of busts, the creation of bases and convincing groundwork, miniature ship modelling and painting with enamels.
Throughout the year we provide displays at other club shows and have arranged outings, including trips to the battlefield sites of Waterloo, Ypres and the Somme also Duxford and various other military museums, both public and private. Among our members are such world-class modellers as Tony Greenland (AFVs) and Geoffrey Illsley (figures and aircraft). So why not come and meet us.
If you decide to become a regular member, the annual subscription is, at present, just £15 – and you get a great cup of tea and a biscuit thrown in!
